National Women’s Alliances
AWAVA is one of six national women’s alliances that together represent over 180 women’s organisations. The alliances bring forward the views, voices and issues of women in Australia and, in particular, women from marginalised and disadvantaged groups.
The other five women’s alliances are:
- Equality Rights Alliance (ERA)
- National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Alliance (NATSIWA)
- National Rural Women’s Coalition (NRWC)
- economic Security4Women (eS4W)
- Harmony Alliance
Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety Limited (ANROWS)
ANROWS is an independent, not-for-profit organisation established as an initiative under Australia’s National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022 (the National Plan).
ANROWS was established to deliver relevant and translatable research evidence which drives policy and practice leading to a reduction in the levels of violence against women and their children.
Our Watch
Our Watch’s (previously the Foundation to Prevent Violence against Women and their Children) purpose is to raise awareness and engage the community in action to prevent violence against women and their children.
Our Watch was conceived of and brought into existence in 2013 by the Commonwealth of Australia and the State of Victoria. The Northern Territory and South Australian governments have also since become members of the organisation.
Our Watch’s work derives from the government’s commitment to the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010 – 2022 and gives expression to many of the activities in the National Plan.
