Vanamali (Mali) HermansAdministration and Communications Assistant
Mali Hermans (she/her) is a postgraduate student studying a Master of Social Work through Charles Sturt University, holding an undergraduate degree majoring in Sociology from the ANU. She has organising experience within grassroots community groups, feminist spaces and the union movement. Mali is a Wiradjuri woman with lived experience of disability, caring and poverty. Alongside working at AWAVA, Mali also works at Women With Disabilities Australia and is committed to disability justice activism.

Kit MuirheadPolicy Officer

 

 

Kit Muirhead (she/her) is AWAVA’s new Policy Officer. Whilst working with AWAVA, Kit will be completing her honours degree, researching the suitability of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) as a means of reducing gendered violence in Fiji. Previously Kit has worked on projects to increase women’s economic empowerment and combat homelessness in both Melbourne and Perth. Prior to the pandemic, she was also living in Fiji, where she was set to work with local women’s rights organisations to tackle violence against women.

Tina DixsonActing Program Manager

 

 

Tina Dixson (she/her) has worked in the area of LGBTIQ, refugee and women’s rights both in Australia and overseas. Tina has a solid experience working with the United Nations bodies, having done the shadow report on the human rights violations of LBT women and undertaken a gender audit of the Global Compact for Refugees in UNHCR. Tina is also a Doctoral Candidate writing a thesis about lived experiences of queer refugee women in Australia.
