AWAVA supports, provide advice on and promote the implementation of the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children.
AWAVA acts as a conduit between the preventing and responding to violence sector and the Commonwealth Government. We support the implementation of the National Plan by sharing information about the Plan, opportunities for civil society engagement and participation, and key achievements and initiatives with the women’s sector.
AWAVA also monitors the implementation of the National Plan and provides recommendations and advice to the Commonwealth Government on the achievements and challenges of the preventing and responding to violence against women sector.
Key ways in which AWAVA have supported the development and implementation of the National Action Plan includes:
- We participated in Second National Action Plan Roundtables
- We made a Submission to the Department of Social Services on the Development of the Second Action Plan under the National Plan to reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-22
- We were a member of the National Plan Implementation Panel (NPIP)
- We participating in the National Plan Working groups
