2011 was the Centenary of International Women’s Day. To celebrate, the Australian Women Against Violence Alliance (AWAVA) created a timeline of significant events and achievements by Australian women. The timeline includes major political, education, legal and social milestones, and demonstrates that despite improvements in gender equality over the past 100 years, women still experience violence at intolerable levels. AWAVA has produced print and web-based resources for use in upper primary and secondary schools and by community organisations.
