AWAVA provide leadership and advocacy at state and national levels in relation to all aspects of violence against women and girls.
We provide expert policy advice as well as carry out monitoring of policies, legislation, programs and practices which impact on women and children experiencing gender-based violence.
AWAVA transfers specialised knowledge from the preventing and responding to violence sector and highlights the experiences of women in situations of multiple disadvantage including:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women
- Women from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities
- Women with disabilities
- Women in rural and isolated areas
- Older women
- Younger women
